Our Jilly Bird director Martin, and my blokey, has been busy over the past few months helping to create a few tunes for a new comedy show ‘It’s Kevin’, starring the brilliant Kevin Eldon. The series is due to air next Sunday 17th march at 10.30pm on BBC2 and we suggest you don’t miss it.
We’re really excited to tell you about our feature in this months online magazine Gathered.

Why do we love squirrels?
Well I suppose it has a lot to do with their fluffy tails and a mutual love of nuts! It’s quite tenuous but I like some people for the same reasons, with the exception of the fluffy tail bit. Some people I love a whole lot less who, on the surface, seem a lot more talented.
Why squirrels?
We live on the South coast and the gardens adjoining the beach are full of these little rascals who, by way of getting a few treats, regularly turn their cuteness knobs up to 11! Kids love to share their crisps and chocolates with them and it has been known for the occasional grown man to offer up a chip or two. If fluffy tails are the key to getting what you want then I’m ordering mine today.
So if you haven’t turned up your cuteness knob up to 11 lately or you have been feeling unnoticed of late then our squirrel mug might be a great way to remind you to make some changes. As you pour out your morning coffee be reminded the importance of being cute and you’ll remember to swish your tail all the way to work. Who knows you might even get offered some nuts!
Have just discovered the brilliant videos of RSA shorts, they are thought provoking, hand drawn and wonderful. Here’s a great short film about silence called ‘The Power of Quiet’.
Last weekend saw the launch of the first Design Your Career conference in Bournemouth, Dorset. The event was the brainchild of Neil and Sarah Leonard who wanted to bring together an informative and talented group of speakers to lecture on anything from social networking, starting a design business, intellectual property law and branding; to how to promote your business, finding funding for start up’s and, if that wasn’t enough there was also an inspiring talk from the brilliant designer Wayne Hemingway.
Neil Leonard and I also got to chat about our own new project loft&print which will be launching in March 2013.

Not on the High Street were on hand to give some expert advice to the visiting designers.

Nicholas John Frith talked about his work as a printer.

This hand-printed ceramic Alhambra mug has rows of fairytale trees which all sit in neat ovals set in a rows. We like to call this style Spaindinavia as it encompasses the colours of Spain with the simple styling of Scandinavia. We’ve taken our colour inspiration from the Spanish painter Salvador Dali and together the spring fresh colours of Catalan turquoise and olive combine perfectly making our tree motifs look positively Scandiliscious!
